When I first became a mom, I had this feeling of entering into an entirely new world. It felt like there was a secret room in the back that I was given the key to.

And with that key, I was downloaded a new Knowing that I never had before…the knowing of Mothers.

It was a whole magical world of its own with doors, keys, slides, caverns and potholes. After 3 decades, motherhood still rocks my world. The JOY and LOVE and privilege I have to be the mother to my two children.

I remember my first Mother’s Day. I was so excited.

I spent the day with my family and was surprised when my Grandma Muriel brought me a gift. What?! — I thought you give gifts to the generations above you on this day, and I was really touched to receive a gift from her.

I don’t remember what the gift was, maybe a plant or a crystal bowl or something homemade — she was always painting or sewing something beautiful.

Whatever she gave me is long gone, but what remains is the beautiful message I received from my Grandma…the gift of honoring mothers.

I felt special and appreciated as a mother.

I felt honored and seen in this new world.
